When Faye Baker discovers a child's skull behind the walls of her new home, Inspector Lottie Parker is called in to investigate. Faye's boyfriend Jeff's family has owned the house for years, so when Jeff starts acting suspicious, Lottie wonders what he might be hiding.

And then 11-year-old Gavin finds the bones of a child on the nearby train tracks. They don't belong to the skull found, but Lottie can't ignore the coincidence. He has a disturbing premonition, so he goes to talk to Faye and finds out that she hasn't arrived at work. Then, when Faye's body is found stuffed in the trunk of her car, Lottie must find out who wanted her to keep quiet. And then Gavin goes missing. Faye and Gavin are only connected by the gruesome body parts they found. But who are these little victims and why has their killer returned? Can Lottie find the answers before another disaster strikes?
