Carlo Goldoni: The Widow of Venice
Carlo Goldoni, the famous Italian playwright, offered a guide to how to get under the hat of the ingratiating ladies in his comedy The Widow of Venice.
Although it does not seem so at first sight, the game is also suitable for gentlemen, who can discover their own weaknesses, for which they become easy victims of female wit. The comedy The Widow of Venice was directed by Ota Ševčík and starring Vilma Cibulková. Persons and cast: Rosaura, widow (Vilma Cibulkova), Eleanor, her sister (Vendula Křížová), Dr. Palmare, father of both sisters (Josef Somr), Pantalone, Rosaura's brother-in-law (Jaroslav Kepka), Mylord Roonebeef, Englishman (Jan Hrušínský), Prince Karl Ludwig von u. zu Ludwigstadt, Nemec (Jiří Štěpnička), Monsieur Le Bleau, Frenchman (Pavel Soukup), Count di Besso Nero, Italian (Jan Stastny), Marionette, French, Rosaura's Chambermaid (Jana Boušková) and Arlecchino, waiter in a café (Viktor Preiss).
