Count of Monte Cristo

A classic beloved by generations in an audiobook adaptation of Alexander Dumas' complete six-part novel. By a fatal combination of unpleasant coincidences, the young ship's officer Edmond Dantes is imprisoned without trial in the cruel dungeon of the If fortress. After fourteen years of despair and hopelessness, a light of hope flashes for him. After the death of his only friend, Abbé Faria, he disguises himself in his shroud and allows himself to be thrown into the sea. The escape is successful and Dantes plans revenge on all those who have wronged him. The Count of Monte Cristo is, along with The Three Musketeers, one of Dumas's most important and best-known books, in which the author masterfully depicted the colourful history of France in the first half of the nineteenth century and at the same time critically pointed out the ills of the society of that time, which are almost indistinguishable from those of today.
