Dědina

Dědina je lehce humorný příběh jedné současné vesnice úspěšné české autorky

Boundaries plowed between fields and people. Pub, small shop, pig slaughtering… and life itself. Infidelity and one failed funeral. State-of-the-art educational methods and beaten chicken. A grandmother and a grandfather join together as two trees. Life, here still associated with land, animals and farming. All of this is Dědina, a tragicomic story told by the eyes of its inhabitants.

The farmer Joseph is vainly bothered why his son Zbyňa refuses to take over the farm when there is so much to fix on the fields destroyed in the team. The vavars count where another crown might sprinkle, the good-hearted saleswoman Maruna tries to be good with everyone and the butcher Láďa conquers under a foreign skirt, while trying to feed her family. And little Petruna? She won't sit down for a while.

Against the backdrop of a slightly humorous narrative, a rural swarm of unadorned nudity is revealed in front of the reader. The natural physical proximity of the heroes, their joint work, their desire for a better livelihood and their calculations are a source of eternal strife and bondage, as well as futile efforts to heal past wounds. A brisk narrative of the Forman style, but not cynical; it does not judge anyone and what is essential - it does not bore.

Napsali o knize Dědina

"Dědina Petra Dvořáková deserves praise for all the elements - the story, the language used, the portrayal of the characters, and, of course, how impressive the author can be. How to convince the reader to postpone visiting friends and start the next story. A také za to, jak nezakrývá podobu venkova a jak pečlivě dokáže dávkovat emoce a city."
