Democracy in the local political space

The publication deals with the functioning of democratic mechanisms at the local level, in cities and municipalities of the Czech Republic. This is an important issue in democratic theory and political practice, which traditionally focuses more on the national level of the democratic process. The book is primarily intended for university students and teachers of political science, sociology and public administration. However, it can also be used by mayors, councillors, local government officials, local political activists and citizens. It will facilitate readers' understanding of mobilizing factors in local politics, cleavage lines within communities, sources of civic participation and civil society development.
