One of Iceland's most important contemporary writers, Kristín Eiríksdóttir, shows herself to be an exceptionally perceptive observer, writing with unmistakable ease about challenging but topical issues in her novel Disclosure. At the Stockholm Film Festival, debutant documentary filmmaker Villa presents her film about a young whaler who died nine years ago. As he answers questions from the audience, it becomes clear that his life was probably not as the documentary portrays it, and the young man's troubled past is revealed to the reader. And not only that. In this compositionally sophisticated novel, which has been nominated for several major prizes, the author delves deep into the interior of her characters and questions the limits of artistic expression - without losing her narrative insight and sovereignty.
