Elsa's Secret

Another case of Patrik Hedström's team

This time, however, without Patrick's guidance. Patrik agreed with his wife Erika to replace her on parental leave after a year so that she could work on her next book. But he soon discovers how hard it is for him not to get involved in the investigation, that is when two young men discover the corpse of a retired history teacher. Coincidentally, this is the person to whom Erika Falck recently took the Nazi iron cross she found in her mother's coffin.

She wanted him to tell her more about him as an expert on World War II. And from his mother's diaries, which lay in the chest with the German award, he further learns after his teacher's death that they had belonged to the same group in their childhood and youth. When Erika seeks out another of her mother's girlfriends from her youth and she is murdered shortly afterwards, she can't believe it could be a coincidence. Someone's trying to hide something. And his secret must be terrible if he's willing to kill for it.
