Empire of Fire and Heat
WILL SHE CHOOSE LOVE, OR WILL SHE
FACE A HIDDEN THREAT ON DRAGONBACK?
Eighteen-year-old Maeve is one of the chosen few who have survived the Path of Ascension and can enter dragon territory. Once she lights the Flame of Challenge, her blood and determination will decide whether she becomes a dragon rider or dragon food. When one of the imperial dragons descends from the night sky and its furious roar echoes through the valley, she realises she has made a fatal mistake… And then Y’Darragh, her unexpected dragon saviour, appears.
Maeve becomes a member of the dragon squadron and begins her training under the command of the charismatic yet unapproachable Captain Lorcan. Their mutual attraction grows, and although they both resist it at first, it uncontrollably blossoms into an unforeseen passion. As Maeve fights for her place among the other recruits, she is consumed by a feeling she cannot afford as an elite soldier.
Time for training is running out – relations with the ice empire to the north are escalating, and rebel attacks are intensifying. All this is merely a prelude to a much greater danger. History is relentlessly repeating itself, and after centuries, a threat that only the Dragon Empress can face is reawakening. And only a woman who can deny herself love will become her…
