Skald Gunhild wants to save her brother from certain death after he is sentenced for a murder he did not commit. She sets off to find the unknown killer alongside Faisal, a wise Arab physician dragged north as a slave. Together they leave the royal court in Lejre and travel through a Danish landscape divided between rival power centres.

Their investigation gradually uncovers a complex web of relationships blending clan loyalty, blood feuds, political ambition and personal betrayal. At the same time, it follows the evolving partnership between Gunhild and Faisal, as well as the tension between old pagan traditions and the newly encroaching Christianity. The characters navigate a world where honour, kinship and family obligations determine a person's worth, and where a single accusation can mean death.

The novel Přízeň is not only a thrilling detective quest, but also a vivid portrait of Viking society during a time of fundamental change. Combining archaeological expertise with thriller-like dynamics, the story brings to life the struggle for justice alongside the daily reality, travel, beliefs and power structures of the early medieval North.
