Feet of clay
Who murders harmless old men? Who's trying to poison Patricia? Audiobook from the Amazing Earth series
As the autumn mists grip the city of Ankh-Morpork in their grip, the City Guard is given the daunting task of tracking down an unseen killer. Maybe the golems know something, but these serious creatures of clay, who work all day and night and have never caused anyone even the slightest trouble, suddenly start committing suicide. Not that the Patrol doesn't have enough problems of its own.
So, for example, there's the trouble with the werewolf who suffers from pre-occupation tension, Corporal Noblehawk who is obsessed with refinement and hobnobbing with the company, and then there's the dwarf rookie. There's something wrong with him. Anyway, there's something weird about him. If nothing else, his earrings and eye shadow. Who can be trusted when the streets are full of people, the shadows are full of conspirators and all the clues are pointing in the wrong direction? Sir Samuel Elannius, the commander-in-chief of the Watch, discovers that the truth may not be hidden in the gloomy and dark streets of the night city at all.
Terry Pratchett
The British writer's literary talent was already evident at the age of 13, when his short story The Hades Business (1963) was published in the school magazine. He studied art, history and English, and then began to study journalism, which he did not complete because he accepted an offer to work as a journalist. Gradually he worked in several editorial offices of regional and national newspapers, at the beginning of the 1980s he became a spokesman for an electricity company and since 1987 he has been devoting himself entirely to writing. His first book, The Cobblers, was published in 1971, but an important turning point in his career was the publication of the novel The Colour of Magic from the Amazing Earth series - others followed and the series grew to more than thirty books (his work was translated into Czech by Jan Kantůrek). In 1990, he co-wrote with Neil Gaiman the humorous story of the birth of the Antichrist, Good Omens (1990, Czech: 1997). In 1998, the Queen of England awarded him the Order of the British Empire for his literary achievements and "service to literature".
