Emergence Day brings one of the most pivotal moments in the series' history, and Gears of War: E-Day for Xbox Series X|S / Windows will take you fourteen years before the events of the original game. Alongside Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, you'll experience the beginning of the Locust invasion as they emerge from underground, plunging the world into chaos and a fight for survival in a single day.
The thrilling campaign in Gears of War: E-Day for Xbox Series X|S / Windows reveals the origins of the well-known heroes and the conflict itself. Throughout the story, you will navigate the streets of ravaged cities, come face-to-face with a terrifying threat from the depths, and witness the events that shaped the future of the entire series.
In addition to the story campaign, Gears of War: E-Day for Xbox Series X|S / Windows also offers extensive multiplayer modes. You can jump into the fight in co-op or test your skills against others in competitive matches that build on the series' proven foundations while introducing modernised gameplay elements.
CLASSES
The iconic co-op Horde mode returns as Horde Siege, expanding the original concept with larger maps, more participants, and more extensive battles. In Gears of War: E-Day for Xbox Series X|S / Windows, you'll choose from one of three classes—Assault, Marksman, Medic, or Breacher—and team up with other squad members to fend off Locust attacks. The combination of multiple teams allows you to complete shared objectives, defeat world bosses, and earn rewards, customisation options, and equipment upgrades.
VERSUS
The competitive side of the series is represented by the return of Versus mode, which brings new maps and revamped favourite 4v4 combat variants. Thanks to improved movement and controls, the fights in Gears of War: E-Day for Xbox Series X|S / Windows feel more dynamic while retaining the characteristic cover system. Jumps, traversing obstacles, flanking opponents, and quick manoeuvres provide greater freedom in every encounter.
ATMOSPHERE
A darker atmosphere takes the sense of danger to a new level, and in Gears of War: E-Day for Xbox Series X|S / Windows, you'll encounter redesigned enemies and entirely new monsters. The environment feels more detailed, realistic, and dangerous than ever before, while the return of familiar weapons is complemented by new armaments designed for brutal close-quarters combat. Furthermore, modernised movement adds greater verticality and new ways to explore the battlefield.
ONLINE
The technological foundation, built from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5, allows for the most immersive experience in the series to date. Gears of War: E-Day for Xbox Series X|S / Windows supports 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR10, and ray tracing for realistic lighting, reflections, and shadows. Optimisation includes support for ultra-wide monitors, an uncapped frame rate on high-performance rigs, and playability on Steam Deck, Xbox Ally X, and Xbox Ally devices. Thanks to linked accounts, you can transfer save files, invite friends across platforms, and join online co-op for 2–4 players or competitive matches for up to 8 participants.
