Graduates' Reunion

Sebastian, a court counselor, meets with a man suspected of murdering a prostitute. Gradually, he discovers that it is probably his former classmate from high school. They were friends once, but there was also a kind of rowdiness between them. The gifted classmate then left the high school early. Perhaps the esteemed Provincial Judge has his share of the blame. How much can remorse hurt? The story of the "punishment" for the "crimes" of his youth is the work of the Prague Jewish writer Franz Werfel. The novel The Reunion of the Graduates was first published in German in 1928 and in Czech thirty years later. The eight-part radio reading was recorded in 1992. It stars Ladislav Mrkvička and Pavel Soukup as two former friends from high school.
