Heart failure syndrome, especially in its chronic form, has an increasing prevalence. The prevalence of heart failure in the population is estimated at three percent in developed countries, with a projected increase in prevalence of 50% by the end of the decade. Heart failure is the most common cause of hospitalization in patients over 65 years of age, so the diagnosis of heart failure in the emergency department is very common. In addition to internal complications and comorbidities, patients with chronic heart failure may have other health problems, which is why these patients are encountered not only by general practitioners, internists and cardiologists, but also by physicians of other specialties.
The book is divided into a general part, that deals with epidemiology, by definition, classifications, diagnosis and overview of heart failure therapy, to the special part, which describes the most common model situations in the emergency room, and the case report part, which describes real examples from clinical practice in the emergency room.
The book Heart Failure. The emergency room procedure is intended not only for internists working in emergency rooms of internal medicine departments and clinics, but also for emergency room physicians of other specialties and intensive care physicians. The book is also a suitable teaching aid for students of medical faculties and non-medical medical disciplines.
