Sebastian Bergman is back in the game against a brutal assailant
Police psychologist Sebastian Bergman has resigned himself to the idea that his days in the murder squad are numbered, and has returned to lecturing and writing. But not for long…
Bergman's daughter, Vanja, has moved out of Stockholm and found a temporary job as a criminal investigator in Uppsala, where she is currently investigating a series of rapes. The perpetrator attacks women from behind—injecting them with an anaesthetic and placing a jute sack over their head.
When one of the victims dies, the National Murder Commission is called in on the case—and shortly afterwards, so is Sebastian Bergman. The fractured team must put their personal problems and disagreements aside and try to apprehend the brutal assailant.
The investigators manage to discover that the perpetrator does not choose his victims at random. But what connects them?
All six instalments of the series featuring the psychologist Sebastian Bergman have sold over 5 million copies worldwide. German television channel ZDF, in cooperation with Sweden's SVT, has produced a popular television adaptation.
What the critics are saying:
Hjorth and Rosenfeldt have achieved the near impossible. Their prose pulsates with life, and their characters will stay in your mind and heart for a long time. You will fall in love with the main character despite his nature, and the plots are so intricate that you will be left in constant amazement.

Hjorth and Rosenfeldt know how to build a plot and ratchet up the tension. Their strong suit is psychology.
- Uppsala Nya Tidning, Sweden
An excellent series. The sixth instalment in the series about police psychologist Sebastian Bergman is in no way inferior to its predecessors. Suspense from start to finish, many surprising twists, and brilliantly drawn characters.
