Hope

Hope: The life story of Pope Francis through his own eyes

It was Pope Francis' wish that this extraordinary document should see the light of day after his death. However, the New Jubilee of Hope and the circumstances of the times led him to decide to publish this precious message now.

Hope is the first autobiography ever published by a pope in history. It is a complete autobiography, which he has devoted the last six years to writing. He begins his personal confession at the beginning of the 20th century, Italian roots and the adventurous emigration of his ancestors to Latin America, and develops it through his childhood, the enthusiasm and temptations of youth, choice of profession, adulthood and mature age to the narrative of the entire period of the pontificate to the present.

Pope Francis, who unveils his memoirs with the force of a passionate narrator (without omitting his personal passions), also addresses the key moments of his pontificate without making light of them, and develops the most important and most debated topics of our time with courage, openness and prophecy: war and peace (including conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East) Migration, environmental crisis, social policy, the status of women, sexuality, technological development, the future of the Church and religions. This moving and very human memoir, rich in revelations, anecdotes and enlightening reflections, is a "novel of life" and a moral and spiritual testament that aims to engage people around the world and be a message of hope for future generations.
