Great experience. Amazing value. A look at an extraordinary life.
The book The Power of Facts has taken the sales charts by storm and made the name Hans Rosling a worldwide concept. In his memoir, Rosling swapped numbers for people. Instead of statistics and graphs, it brings us closer to the world of interpersonal interaction - a world of experiences, friendships, experiences, disappointments and joys. In collaboration with journalist Fanny Härgestam, the author takes us through his inspiring journey through his life, which has taken him from a hospital in Africa to the world's podiums. The reading public thus has the opportunity to get to know one of the most outstanding thinkers of recent years intimately.
Deeply human and revelatory insights about life on our planet without any preconceptions are just one aspect of How I Learned to Understand the World. At the same time, we follow the lifelong journey of a physician, scientist, humanist and father of a family who, even in his old age, did not hesitate to investigate the causes of various epidemics right at the centres of their occurrence. Rosling recognizes that the progress and prosperity of recent decades have come only slowly with each new generation and higher education. He also delved into his own family tree and confessed that his great-grandparents only syllabled while reading, his grandmother washed clothes in a cement sink and his father was shy to step into a modern hypermarket. And we are talking about Sweden in the twentieth century.
It was primarily facts that helped Rosling explain how the world works. And still curiosity and determination. In the audiobook, Hans tells how he became a thinker and recounts his lifelong journey from an emergency clinic in Mozambique to the World Economic Forum in Davos. With deep humanity and joy, he tells stories that the whole world listens to with equal pleasure.
