Jiří Grossmann died young, at the age of 30, from Hodgkin's disease, an incurable illness at the time. However, he left behind a vast and immortal body of work. With Miloslav Šimek, he formed a writing, acting, and singing duo. They wrote plays with a distinctive sense of humour (Besídky zvláštní školy, Návštěvní dny, Večery pro otrlé...), performed at the Olympic and Semafor theatres, and founded the group Country Beat Jiřího Brabce, for which they recorded dozens of their songs. In this audiobook, recollections from actors, singers, colleagues, and family members are complemented by 27 of the most famous songs, performed by Jiří Grossmann, Miloslav Šimek, and his colleagues. The song 'Závidím' (I Envy), after which this book by Jiří Datel Novotný, a colleague from the Semafor theatre, is named, and sung by Naďa Urbánková, forms the backbone of the entire collection. The memories of all the contributors are read with emotion and empathy by two members of the Semafor theatre, Jolana Smyčková and Tomáš Novotný. Michal Koch then introduces each person by name.
