At the age of eighteen, Marie voluntarily admits herself to a psychiatric hospital. But from that point on, everything goes downhill. A chillingly honest story from a place none of us wants to be.


Marie has loving parents, stable background and all the conditions for a happy life. Something's wrong. She stops eating, cuts herself with a razor blade and learns to inject heroin from YouTube videos just to silence the voices in her head. But they can't be silenced. He forces her to refuse medication and punish herself or else he will hurt her family, she says. The line between hallucination and reality is blurring.

Marie returns again and again to the closed ward. There she spends long hours and even days confined to her bed. He's undergoing electroshock treatment. But nothing works. The system is failing, she's failing herself. Still, hope, humour and humanity occasionally flash through the darkness.
