How does the successful politician, long-serving MP, and chairwoman of TOP 09, Markéta Pekarová Adamová, see the functioning of Czech domestic and foreign policy? How difficult was it for her to succeed in a predominantly male, highly competitive world? And how does she now view certain political scandals and the unexpected turns in her own career? In an unusually open interview with journalist Tereza Šídlová, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies does not shy away from personal questions or sensitive topics.
Markéta Pekarová Adamová is a Czech politician, an MP since 2013, and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies since 2021. Her career is linked with the TOP 09 political party, which she led for six years. After graduating from grammar school in Svitavy, she studied andragogy and personnel management at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, and then business and management in industry at the Czech Technical University in Prague. During her studies, she worked in a sales department and at a personnel and training agency. Volunteer work has become a significant part of her life: she attended workcamps in children's homes in Armenia and Morocco, and also co-organised children's camps for children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the Czech Republic.
