Jan Neruda: Francesca di Rimini

The dramatic work of Jan Neruda is not extensive and has almost fallen into oblivion, yet - or perhaps because of this - we give him a well-deserved space on the Vltava radio stage. The story of the unfortunate Francesca, married for political reasons to a disfigured nobleman, is still touching today with the tragic fate of a woman who was forbidden to fulfil her true feelings, for which she eventually paid with her life. The Dante-inspired tragedy was written and performed in 1860 and to some extent came out of the efforts of Czech theatre makers to create an original representative drama in a grand style. Don't miss this unique opportunity to get to know Jan Neruda as a playwright in a superbly cast radio adaptation. < Hrají: Malatesta di Rimini (Zdeněk Ornest), Gianciotto, jeho prvorozený syn (Viktor Preiss), Paolo, jeho druhý syn (Petr Štěpánek), Guido da Polenta, pán na Raveně (Antonín Molčík), Francesca, jeho dcera (Hana Maciuchová), Campagni, Gianciottův učitel (Jiří Holý), Cerchi, měšťan (Jiří Adamíra), Filippo, Malatestův sluha (Jaroslav Kepka), Matteo, Malatestův sluha (Vladimír Krška), Antonio, Malatestův sluha (Miroslav Táborský), Beatrice, Malatestova služka (Dagmar Čárová)
