John Galsworthy: modern comedy

A continuation of the previous radio treatment: Saga of the Forsyth family, dramatised by František Pavlíček and directed by Ivan Chrze. The story takes place in the 1920s and depicts the fate of the third and fourth generations of the Forsytes. The protagonist is a young liberal aristocrat Michael Mont, unsuccessfully striving for social and economic transformation. His wife, Soames Forsyth's daughter Fleur, is a typical representative of the post-war "modern" woman, subordinating love and beauty to the selfishness of high society. While in the first cycle Galsworthy ironized and criticized the Forsyths for their possessive instincts, he takes a much more positive view of them in this, his second cycle.
