To concern ourselves with happiness in our current times and in the present chaotic state of our civilisation—and especially of our souls, which so heavily bear a life without meaning—is a very necessary and useful task. Thanks to these reports and the author's enthusiasm, we can realise, again and again, that reducing the entire meaning of life to mere commerce, and thus to economics, is a great mistake. Our greed, arrogance, vanity, and pampered comfort create insurmountable barriers between us and happiness. Happiness, which is, after all, such a natural and original human state, as we can see every day in the youngest of children, who are born into our world completely happy. We can endlessly ask ourselves the pointless questions about where our happiness disappears to. Just as mindlessly, we can ask where our serotonin vanishes. These reports bring us very simple and compelling answers to such questions. And as a very inspiring bonus, they show us that there are still places in this world where other deities besides our insatiable Goddesses of Reason and Economy are alive. For example, Compassion, Love, Happiness, Understanding, etc. Perhaps we will be inspired by this book in the best sense and finally stop looking at the world around us with godlike disdain and predatory greed. Maybe then we will no longer kill the happiness in our children, but will learn to accept them as partners and teachers. Who knows? And maybe then happiness and that serotonin will return to us… Pjér la Šé’z
