Juggernaut Darja

You might think that a mercenary would be a better title for the book, so I asked Darja why she calls herself a mercenary:

" I don' t know why I should be proud of what I do! " Yeah, I' m a better swordsman than most guys, but does that mean anything? Instead of silk skirts, I walk in leather pants, instead of smelling of sandalwood, I stink of sweat and smoke, instead of balls and parties, I freeze on the night watch. Should I be proud that the wizards cast me out and I' m fighting my way through it, how can I? I could say that I make a decent living as a mercenary, but that wouldn' t be true. I earn more by playing cards, but only thanks to the bit of magic I have that allows me to cheat a little. And without it, not even the wizard Van would have noticed me, nor would I have been able to control the Wolf, and in fact, not even Prince Roglun would have chosen me for his personal guard because of my swordsmanship. ”
