Legends and legends of old Sumava

Folk tales from the old Šumava are not just any collection of stories - they are above all an extremely raw account of the life, hardships and joys of the inhabitants of this beautiful, but very mysterious and inscrutable mountain range. Of course, it would be a mistake to expect any Goldilocks or silly Honza, the Sumava stories are full of cruel twists and turns, where a person becomes a mere plaything of fate. No wonder, life is tough here even today, let alone two, three hundred years ago or more. Thus, witches dwell in the deep woods, a fierce, savage hunter is on the loose with his pack, not infrequently we come across Satan himself - but everything is carried strange, ...with unwanted poetry, because "there, where even the most unlikely becomes reality, where everything real melts into thin air, of haze and fog, where happiness and hardship merge, everything becomes a haze and a dream, a dream about Šumava".
