Letters from Sisi

Many books have been written about the Austrian Empress Sisi. However, few of them are based on authentic primary sources. Even fewer are based on letters written in her own hand.

Letters from Sisi offers a unique opportunity to read 24 of Elisabeth's previously unpublished personal writings, which come from the Secret House Archive of the Wittelsbach family. These are immensely rare documents, allowing readers to get to know the empress personally.

What did she confide in their recipients? What was her relationship with them? What does her distinctive handwriting reveal about her? How did her correspondence change over time? The book presents Elisabeth in various stages of her life, with all her joys and sorrows.

The Czech translation of the letters is complemented by scans of selected originals and the author's expert commentary.
