Life in the Centuries - 16th Century
A slightly different view of history.
In his project, historian Vlastimil Vondruška deals with events and life in past centuries. This time he turned his attention to the transformation of society in the 16th century.
Do you want to know what the climate was like in the 16th century or how many people lived in the Czech Kingdom at that time? And what constituted the main income of the nobility? The well-known historian and writer not only answers these questions, but also vividly describes life in the towns, the ambition of the townspeople to rise among the nobility and the life of the so-called "common and servant people" or "beggarly and moneyed people, having no dwelling of their own". We will learn under what guise the Renaissance "call girls" worked and who was allowed to beg. We will get acquainted with village life, the architectural form of the settlements and their interior furnishings, we will get an idea of the fashion, hygiene and table manners of the time and we will reflect on the education and judiciary of the 16th century. And as a sweet treat, we get a lesson in contemporary love life. Vlastimil Vondruška draws on historical sources, which he refreshes with his narrative art.
