Light the sun for me
A novel about crime, truth, guilt and responsibility
The year is 1986, winter is coming to an end and the first conures arrive in the small village of Marbäck in southern Sweden. But when policeman Sven Jörgensson sees the otherwise joyous harbinger of spring, his blood runs cold. He knows that misfortune will not be long in coming. That same evening, the world will be turned upside down throughout Sweden. In the centre of Stockholm, the Swedish Prime Minister is murdered on his way home from the cinema, the country is paralysed by shock, and amid the chaos Sven must venture out on his own into the darkness of the Nyarsassen hills to track down the deranged killer.
I'll do it again, the voice on the phone warned him. And Sven has no doubt that he meant his threat. Who sowed terror in a once so safe corner of the Swedish countryside? And who is the writer who, many years later, decides to commit the story to paper? And why won't he let the ghosts of the past sleep? A novel about crime, truth, guilt and responsibility in a time when Sweden changed beyond recognition overnight.
