Hana Marie Körnerová was born in 1954 in Litoměřice, she spent her childhood in the small village of Počaply near Terezín, where her father was the head teacher and librarian. She lived in Terezín, Litoměřice, Lovosice, Prague, Hřídelec and Lázně Bělohrad. Since childhood, she has been writing the so-called. in a drawer, but her first novel, Lord of the Mountains, was not published until 1993. This six-volume saga tracing the history of a French noble family immediately won her an immediate readership. France of the 18th and 19th centuries is the backdrop the author uses most often in her historical-adventure stories.
