Memories of the war in "Yugoslavia"
This book is the first volume in a series dedicated to the memoirs of modern-day war veterans. Following the establishment of the UNPROFOR peacekeeping mission in 1991, the author became one of the military psychologists at the UN Peacekeeping Forces Training Base in Český Krumlov, evaluating applicants for service in UN units. From March 1992, a Czechoslovak battalion operated in the territory of the former Yugoslavia, which was replaced by a Czech battalion in April 1993. As the psychologist for the Czech battalion, Josef Falář spent a full year in the territory of the officially unrecognised Republic of Serbian Krajina. The book contains interesting information about the formation, operations, deployment, and tasks of our units within the UNPROFOR mission. It presents both humorous and tragic experiences through the eyes of the soldiers, primarily from the period of April to September 1993. The text is interspersed with unique, previously unpublished documents and photographs taken by direct participants of the mission.
