Mortificatio

A delicate story full of intimate emotions and harsh humour about the fact that even existential marasmus can be escaped if we give enough space to our dreams in life.

Nick, a thirty-something perfume warehouse worker, tries in vain to find reasons to stay in the piles of old paperbacks, vinyl records and musty clothes. On the walls of his shabby apartment he martyrily projects his childhood traumas day after day and, intoxicated by nihilism and cheap whisky, teeters on the edge of self-destruction. His only support is his sister Layla, a young workaholic who tries to hide from the demons of her past behind her work papers. The not-so-happy existence of the two siblings changes when a mysterious girl they briefly met as children reappears in their lives. Tiny redhead Emily with her freckle-streaked face can make them hope that their fate may not be final after all. You just need to get the courage to break into a seemingly uninhabited house in a side street...
