Mastering the art of riding takes much more than just holding the handlebars. It requires observing your surroundings, understanding the physics and dynamics of the motorcycle, getting the timing of your manoeuvres right and, among other things, knowing your own limits.
Whether you are an experienced rider or a beginner, knowledge is the key to safe, comfortable and confident motorcycling. The renowned American publicist and consultant David L. Hough describes in this detailed guide how to maximise your riding experience and prepare for the conditions and situations that all bikers will sooner or later encounter.
Each chapter focuses on a specific topic, from choosing your first motorcycle and the right helmet, to surviving in normal city traffic, to specific situations such as unexpected encounters with wild animals. In the book, you will find tips and advice on how to ride in large groups and what to look out for in high temperatures or, conversely, in the cold and rain. All recommendations are based on Hough's years of riding experience.
Finally, there are also tips on practical exercises to improve balance and emergency braking, or even a design for a large training course that you can use to build your own. In the author's own words: No book or course will teach you how to become a master motorcyclist. But they can teach you how to train correctly.
