Mr. Tomas is an official at the Polish Ministry of Culture who is searching for missing works of art. But now he has big worries. Rare 16th-century icons have begun to disappear in Poland, appearing " accidentally" at auctions in Prague and Vienna. In addition to the icons, the alchemist' s book from Rudolfinian Prague has disappeared, and it seems that someone wants to verify the agreement between Magister Kelly and Rabbi Löw after centuries regarding diamonds, which according to legend will only be obtained by the person who proves to be half of a special amulet. A story like Dan Brown' s, but all the funnier because it takes place in the 1970s. A nice retro for anyone who remembers that time, a humorously written respite for those who don' t. One of Mr. Tomáš' s many strengths is the fact that he doesn' t take himself seriously at all.
