A sophisticatedly suspenseful whodunit
Susan Ryeland has said goodbye to London and her job as an editor and runs a cosy little hotel on an idyllic Greek island with her boyfriend. So he has everything he could wish for - or does he? Well, not exactly. The hotel is growing over her head, financial problems are knocking at the door, the staff is everything, just not reliable, with my boyfriend, it's a bit of a struggle, and she's starting to miss the London literary world.
One day she is visited by the Treherns, owners of a much larger and more luxurious hotel in England. Their account of a murder that happened there some time ago during their daughter Cecily's wedding celebration is so strange that it piques Susan's curiosity. And when it's revealed that Cecily has disappeared just hours after reading Atticus Pünd Takes the Case, a detective story Susan once edited, Susan has no choice but to head back to England to find out more. Everything suggests that the pages of the book might not only contain clues to a murder that took place several years ago, but also a clue to finding Cecily. But Susan should already know that too much curiosity can be dangerous.
In a subtly suspenseful detective thriller full of twists and turns and echoes of Agatha Christie's world, we meet Susan Ryeland and Atticus Pound, the protagonists of the novel Many Magpies Foretell Murder. A brilliant tribute to classic English detective stories from the screenwriter of Hercule Poirot and Midsomer Murders.
