Neuronal Man

In two books from the mid-2000s, Catherine Malabou uses the concept of plasticity to engage with the philosophical tradition that shaped her, rewriting it as a process of transformation between dialectics and deconstruction. At the same time, she juxtaposes the organisation of the nervous system with political and social organisation, which both conditions and is conditioned by human experience. In doing so, she develops a radical concept of plasticity in its transformative capacity, seeking to avoid its conflation with mere flexibility and adaptability.
