Nothing but capitalism

For the first time in human history, the entire planet is dominated by one economic system. Capitalism triumphed because it proved more viable and adaptable than other systems. He brought prosperity to the people and satisfied their desire for independence. But it has exacted a high moral price, teaching us to regard material success as the ultimate goal of our actions. Capitalism itself offers no guarantee of stability. The West is strained to bursting by inequality and excess. In China, it is winning the hearts of millions of people, and at first glance it seems to be working more effectively than in the West. But it is much more prone to corruption and can cause devastating social unrest when growth slows. Prophecies predicting one single inevitable future for humanity are false. Capitalism is a system full of risks, but it is a human system: will serve us all the better the more clearly we are aware of our choices.
