Odin's child
Odin's child is the first volume of the successful fantasy inspired by Norse mythology
The first volume of the successful Norwegian fantasy trilogy Raven Circles, inspired by Norse mythology, is not only a superbly paced adventure, but also a story about the desire for justice, the dangers of blind faith and the right or determination to lead others.
Imagine missing something that everyone else has. Something that proves you belong in their world. Something so important that you're nobody without it. You're just a contagion. Just a myth. Man.
At the age of fifteen, Hirka learns that she is Odin's child - a tailless creature from another world. Despised, feared and persecuted. But someone doesn't want her secret to come out and intends to do so by any means necessary. Hirka, whose life is suddenly on the line, must flee. But there are more dangerous creatures than Odin's children, and Hirka is not the only one who has passed through the gate between worlds...
They wrote about the book
A grand narrative of faith, doubt, belonging, suspicion and fear of the unknown. The novel's world is whole, full of deep ideas and believable characters.
Jury of the Fabelprisen Prize
I am rarely as impressed by something as I am by the energy and storytelling qualities of Siri Pettersen. [...] We are watching a new star in the fantasy sky. A star that shines above the frozen north and will surely shine abroad.
Steven Ekholm, Dagens Nyheter
Reader, who goes into the story expecting a classic heroic (epic) fantasy, the author offers exactly that, what it desires - a sophisticated world full of diverse characters, the main character on the run, of her valiant friend, power struggles and the dangers from outside in the form of creatures far more insidious, than ordinary people.
