Palm OS

Palm OS-based handhelds are popular for their user-friendliness and simplicity. But not everyone wants to spend hours exploring all the features of a new handheld. Many users solve the lack of a Czech manual by experimenting with a new device, during which they discover many functions, but others remain hidden and unused. This book is intended to be not only a guide to the basic features of the Palm OS PDA, but a guide for new users to help them get their new handheld computer up and running effectively. Users who have been working with Palm for a long time will find new and useful information in it. The first part of the book is devoted to the handheld computer as a device and the Palm OS as the environment in which the PDA user navigates. Adequate space is devoted to synchronization, installing additional programs on the Palm, and working with a desktop computer. The book doesn't forget about Apple Macintosh users either. The reader will learn in detail about the graphical controls of the Palm OS that he or she will encounter in all applications - the knowledge gained in this part of the book is the basis for using not only the applications described in the second part of the book, but also the tens of thousands of Palm OS programs. A detailed setup guide prepares the handheld for use in all situations. In the second part of the book, the reader is introduced to basic handheld computer applications in a detailed and practical way. They will learn how to use the Calendar, Tasks, Contacts, Notes, Expenses, Notebook and multimedia applications. All applications are presented in an interactive way, the book shows the basic operations that the reader can perform on their own PDA. Finally, we will introduce the Palm Desktop program, which works with data from a PDA on a desktop computer. Despite its relatively large scope, there remain areas that the book deliberately does not go into and remains focused on the basics of Palm and its basic applications. Even in this area, 20% knowledge of features and controls brings 80% of the benefit of the device - the Palm OS book focuses in detail and in practice on the 20% that will make users masters of personal information management using modern technology.
