One of his most famous oratorios, Jude Maccabee, was dedicated by George Frideric Handel to William Agustus, Duke of Cumberland, as a tribute after his rescue of London and the repulse of the Scottish army in 1746. But must the paths of musical history always be so straightforward? In this story, librettist Thomas Morell and Handel's young admirer Christoph Willibald Gluck experience what it is like to live and work in the company of a musical genius. Viktor Preiss created the character of Georg Friedrich Händel, an active volcano brimming with creative power and dangerously threatening his surroundings with unexpected eruptions. Kamil Halbich played Handel's librettist Reverend Thomas Morell and Miloslav König played the young idealist Gluck. Harpsichordist Adam Viktora was also a rare guest during the recording, lending his unique musical experience and his hands to Radio Handel.
