Phenomena of folk traditions
The publication with ethnological themes with a strong focus on the pictorial part introduces even uninitiated readers to the issue of folk traditions. We have selected two basic areas of Czech traditions: folk dress and costume and traditional ceremonies and masks. These are phenomena that have accompanied our traditions for centuries, are still alive in places, and at the same time are so changeable that they are worth eloquently reintroducing to the public.
The authors have been collaborating on these topics for a long time, so the publication is a certain résumé of their joint activities. The photographs were taken over the years in the field as a time-lapse, tracing the phenomena of family and annual ceremonies and perfectly capturing the spirit of the moment. The book is sure to find a favourable response among readers and will enrich the current set of ethnographic publications, also thanks to the author's professional and engaging style.
