Procedures and tutorials supplemented with colour photographs.
Transfers, stamps, prints – there is an inexhaustible number of techniques and motifs that we can work with in this field. And if you make your own printing tools, you will enjoy them even more.
The main advantage of printing and stamping is that it is universal and can be used on a wide range of surfaces and objects – so with a single technique you can make a tablecloth, a postcard, wrapping paper, or jazz up an old pair of canvas shoes.
It's up to your imagination how you use the printing method – but this little book will give you valuable advice and basic instructions to inspire you. All the projects in the book are accompanied by colour step-by-step photographs and a detailed description of each step, so even complete beginners don't have to worry about failure.
About the author:
Alena Isabella Grimmichová has been creating since early childhood. She learned the first basics of working with textiles – sewing and embroidery – from her grandmothers. Her work grew out of a fascination with colour and patterns, so she focused primarily on working with fabric and textiles. Now, her work is mainly concerned with a variety of textile techniques. She is interested in their various combinations and in combining new and old methods of fabric processing. This interest has not only influenced her own work, but has also been embodied in several books focusing on different fabric treatments from Japan or Africa. From 1992–2005 she ran her own Gallery N°9 in Malá Strana, Prague. Since 1993 she has exhibited her work in the Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and Austria. She collaborates with many magazines dedicated to handicrafts.
