Repairs of historical buildings

Recently, when repairing old buildings, I have more and more often encountered opinions about solutions to partial problems that are wrong, do not benefit the building and often do not even correspond to the laws of physics. Many people repair their old houses (often with their own help), and this is a field for the emergence and spread of grassroots solutions. People are more likely to consult a neighbour or social media than an expert.

This is not just a problem of today, the classical architect Vitruvius wrote about it in the 1st century AD: „ … no one tries to perform any other art at home, e.g. cobblers', boulderers', or any of the others that are easier, unless building… “ That is why I decided to write a book in which I would like to use my long experience with the repair and restoration of old buildings and try to point out the misconceptions we encounter. I believe that this book will help you avoid the mistakes that I made (and perhaps still make). Jan Vinař
