Skoda to Sněžka and around the world
Who does not know the Czech travellers Hanzelka and Zikmund! But did you know that their crossing of Africa and South America was preceded 11 years earlier by a round-the-world trip in a production Skoda Rapid? Its leader, Břetislav Jan Procházka, has lived motoring since his youth: He imported American oils and service and garage equipment, and he and his brother built a modern "auto sanatorium". He linked his fate with the promotion of Škoda cars. For his daring long-distance drives, proving the reliability of the Škoda, he became known as the "mileage gobbler". He also demonstrated his riding skills during his successful attempt to climb the peak of Sněžka in a Škoda Popular. The book, based also on unpublished materials from the family archive, presents the strong personality of B. J. P., a practitioner and dreamer, traveler, publicist and entrepreneur. Procházka was a "man of action", after the war he worked in America in the automotive and aviation industries. The story of a skilled promoter of Czech industry and a world traveler is read in one breath.
