Social policy
The authors present the development of social policy in the European Union and explain its importance for individual member states. They analyze key social rights, such as the right to work, education, healthcare or decent housing, and describe the Czech social security system with a focus on current changes in the system, including pension reform. The book provides a perspective on social services and their role in the European context. It also covers the topics of equality and solidarity, gender equality, the feminization of poverty and highlights the importance of social policy in the fight against discrimination. Another important topic is the European social model and the role of EU institutions in shaping social policy. A separate chapter is devoted to alternative models and challenges for the future of social policy, such as universal basic income, a four-day workweek, social entrepreneurship, and community development.
The book is aimed primarily at students of social work and related fields. However, it will also be of use to interested social workers and other professionals who deal with this issue in their practice.
