J. R. From his own memories, Pick has managed not only to conjure up and make present an image of the eager, elemental joy of what little the precocious teenagers in the camp were afforded, but also, paradoxically, to capture the absurdly comic relationship of Jews to the dark reality of genocide.

As a childhood memory of dissident meetings in his parents' apartment, J. R. Picka. Zuzana Justman Picková also returns to the atmosphere of the old Protectorate times alongside her older brother, recalling and stating that after the end of the concentration camp martyrdom it took twenty years before Pick was able to return to the subject and to extract from it this small book of extraordinary importance.
