Source code

The story of the early days of one of the most influential business leaders, innovators and philanthropists of modern times

Bill Gates' business triumphs are well known: At the age of twenty-one, he left his studies at Harvard to found a software company that has become a giant in its industry and changed the way the world and our lives work. Subsequently, the multi-billionaire has turned his attention to philanthropy, focusing primarily on climate change, global health and education in the United States.

Source Code is not about the golden age of Microsoft, the founding of the Gates Foundation, or the future of technology. It tells the human and personal story of how Bill Gates became who he is today: about his childhood, early passions and hobbies. It is the story of his principled grandmother, his ambitious parents, his first deep friendships and the sudden death of his best friend. Of his futile attempts to fit in, about it, how the world of coding and computers was discovered at the beginning of a new era, and about this, when he was a teenager on the road, that led him from his midnight escapades at a nearby computer center to his college dorm room, where he started a revolution, that changed the world.

This story is told for the first time by Bill Gates himself, and the result is a wise, warm, revealing and above all fascinating portrait of American life.
