Audiobook Stephen Hawking: His life and work. Author Kitty Ferguson. Read by Jan Eisler, Eliška Eislerová, Josef Wiesner. STEPHEN HAWKING was one of the most remarkable figures of our time. This Cambridge genius gained a worldwide reputation as a brilliant theoretical physicist, and moreover became a great source of inspiration to everyone who witnessed his triumph over disability. This is Hawking's life story through the eyes of Kitty Ferguson, who was able to rely on the help of Hawking himself and his close associates to write it. The audiobook gives a colourful picture of Hawking's childhood, the heartbreaking early years of his struggle with motor neurone disease during his first year of postgraduate study at Cambridge, his growing international fame, and his long years of personal struggle to survive and try to understand the universe scientifically. It also continuously summarizes and explains to the layman the scientific theories that Hawking was involved with. Kitty Ferguson has a gift for translating the language of theoretical physicists into the language of normal mortals, and she can make even the most complex topics understandable and extremely readable, i.e. actually listenable. "This is a fascinating account of the remarkable life and work of an extraordinary mind."
