Terminologiae Medicae IANUA
The latest edition of this popular textbook for medical students continues the time-honoured tradition of making the most out of the bare minimum of grammar that future doctors can use and apply in their own practice. The text encourages creativity and the search for connections, which sometimes takes it out of its usual, narrowly specialized focus.
The name IANUA already indicates the methodological principles that inspired the authors: Komenský's requirement of illustration is served by a number of tables, diagrams and drawings, and grammatical phenomena are arranged in a readable and light text to meet the needs of students as much as possible. The material is supplemented with examples of diagnoses, etymologies of technical terms and an abundance of practice material, including a key.
In addition to the purposefully included minimum for the first year, the authors also offer basic terminological equipment for subjects studied in higher years and also additional information for those interested in a more detailed study of the subject in the context of medical sciences.
