The publication highlights the fact that cosmetic surgery brings joy and happiness to the patient if the surgery of the cosmetic defect was successful. On the other hand, however, it can cause great disappointment and considerable hardship in life, in the case of an operation that does not meet initial expectations.
The reasons for the failure of the operation may be different: little experience of the plastic surgeon or his/her lack of manual dexterity or aesthetic perception. Postoperative complications, differences in patient healing, unexpected blood discharges, postoperative swelling or unpleasant postoperative scars cannot be excluded.
However, there may be other factors that contribute significantly to the outcome of the surgery. These include, for example, severe patient anxiety, but also a range of other psychological problems that can have a very negative impact on the post-operative outcome. A large part of the book is devoted to these complications.
