The better of us

A twisty, suspenseful domestic thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of The Wife

Although Chloe is the younger of the two Taylor sisters, she always seemed to have a bit of an edge. She was a successful student with big dreams and an even bigger work ethic. Nicky - always feisty and more than a little reckless - was the opposite of her ambitious younger sister. She drifted from job to job and relationship to relationship, always keeping close to home in Cleveland.

For a moment, it seemed that they had both found their happiness. Chloe won a scholarship to college and moved to New York City, where she landed her dream job in publishing. Nicky married a promising young lawyer, Adam Macintosh, and bore him a son, whom they named Ethan. During that time, the sisters became estranged from each other.

Now, more than fifteen years later, their lives have changed dramatically - Adam's wife is now Chloe. After Adam is murdered in his East Hampton home, Chloe reluctantly allows her teenage adopted son's biological mother, Sister Nicky, back into her life. But when the police finger Ethan as a suspect in the murder, it forces the sisters to band together... and search for the truth behind family secrets buried in the distant past.
