The Cannibal

Audiobook by Lubomir Machacek Cannibal

With his novel The Cannibal, Lubomír Macháček presents the readers with a clash between two distinct personalities, a doctor and his former patient who seeks out his therapist shortly after his return from prison in order to take revenge for a perceived injustice. Their struggle for the truth of life is not only a struggle for physical survival, but also a struggle for the soul, for values and for the knowledge that it is as important to stand before people as it is to stand before oneself.

The story teeters on the edge, the author takes his heroes seriously, sometimes tragicomically, and does not forgive himself for irony and sarcasm. Easy girl, folk healer, a successful businessman, a doctor of natural sciences and a writer-chronicler are all people of "our" time, looking for their face and integrity in the middle of the night in a therapy group, where they expect, that they get another chance to live and survive.
